The Shahnameh (Book of Kings)

The Shahnameh, translated as ‘the Book of Kings’, is one of the world’s longest epic poems which was written between 977 and 1010 by renowned Persian poet Ferdowsi.

With his magical writing, he tells the story of the Persian Empire, in some 50,000 couplets in Early New Persian (Farsi), providing a collection of both mythical and historical episodes starting from the creation of the world up until the Islamic conquest in the 7th century.
