03 Oct Hafez’s Beautiful Tomb (Shiraz, Iran)

The stunning tomb of Hafez commonly known as Hafezieh, is in the Mosalla Gardens (formerly know as the Golgast-e Mosalla, featured in Hafez’s poetry) situated in northern Shiraz, in memory of the very celebrated and deeply respected Persian poet Hafez.

Alterations to Hafez’s tomb involved elevating it one metre above ground level and encircling it with five steps. Eight ten metres tall columns support a copper dome in the shape of a dervish’s hat. The underside of the dome consists of a beautiful beige, brown and blue colorful mosaic.
