09 Juin Ferdowsi, le poète doué

L’illustre poète persan Abolghasem Ferdowsi, originaire de la province de Khorasan, est surtout connu pour son chef-d’œuvre littéraire, le Shahnameh, « le livre des rois », dans lequel il raconte l’histoire de l’empire perse, en fournissant une collection d’épisodes allant de la création du monde jusqu’à la conquête islamique.

Dans son introduction, Ferdowsi expose ses convictions fondamentales en établissant le pouvoir infini de notre créateur et sa sagesse infinie, la création du monde avec ses quatre éléments précieux (le feu, la terre, l’eau et l’air), la création de l’homme ainsi que la création du soleil et de la lune.

En voici quelques extraits :

“In the name of the Lord of the soul and of wisdom, than Whom thought can conceive nothing higher […]”.

“[…] From [wisdom] comes happiness and all human welfare; from it you gain increase and without it you experience loss […]”.

“[…] God created matter out of nothingness in order that his power might be manifested: out of it was produced the substance of the four elements, without effort and without expenditure of time […]”.

“[…] With its brilliance and light it is bright as a garden in the Spring. There is in it a heart-warming element which moves and from which day receives its illumination […]”.
